As Autumn prepares its arrival, my thoughts turn to the garden and to the rows and rows of Zinnia to dead-head, preserving dried flowers for seed to plant next year’s garden.
Burlap Sacks are going the way of the DoDo Bird (phonetically, Dough-Dough Bird). The sacks I’ve obtained are from an obliging coffee shop in Louisville so they smell nicely of fair-traded coffee beans and are very decorative, to boot!
Plastic Mesh bags have replaced Burlap in the intervening years since I last used them as a teenager when they were quite common. The mesh bags are good, however, I had lots of volunteer zinnia and sunflower emerge in the garden this year from where I had simply set the bag down (and seed fell out). That would not happen with Burlap, so Burlap wins in my book.
More later from Groundhog Hill.
