The Secret to Longevity is Homemade Strawberry Jam

Just ask my father, age 93.8, who has a heaping tablespoon every morning!

Have put up 17 jars so far. What a pleasure to make jam from strawberries you picked from plants you planted in your very own garden (at Greensburg Street, not at GH)!

Bumper Crop this year which I attribute to the dry pine needles I used to mulch and insulate the patch this past Winter.

My back hurts, though! Picking berries was much easier at age 9 than at age 49. Now I know why I have so many memories of picking strawberries as a kid on my grandmother’s farm: Child Labor!!!!!
